    Hi,

In the MyEclipse 7.1 release notes I read the following:

Manual install using a MyEclipse update-site or archived update-site may cause UI deadlock if the “Apply Changes” button is selected after installation. Manual installs using an update-site are now a discouraged practice, and come with decreased functionality set which does not include the MyEclipse Dashboard.

    See: http://www.myeclipseide.com/module-htmlpages-display-pid-409.html#issues

If the install using an update-site or archived update-site is discouraged, what will be the recommended method of installation then? The manual install has always worked very well for me. If it doesn’t work anymore in MyEclipse 7.1, shouldn’t it be related then to something you introduced in 7.1?
Is this going to be fixed for MyEclipse 7.5 and is it only discouraged for 7.1, or will it continue to be discouraged?

Manual Install still works fine and a lot of our users use it. The decreased functionality is the lack of any of the Pulse-enabled features in MyEclipse like the Dashboard that allows you to add/remove pieces of MyEclipse to the install dynamically, pick up updates easily, etc. We just provide that technical note so people are aware of this. Also, the recommended way of doing an install is still the “All in One” installer”.
