If you are like some of us and immediately jumped on Mountain Lion as soon as it was out the door, you, like us, may have hit an error:
“Application Name” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.
Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers.
This is due to new security enforcement rules in Mountain Lion that requires all installers and technically all applications to have been signed by a developer. While we go through the process of getting a certificate from Apple, there is an easy workaround you can follow.
Simply go to your System Preferences and look under Security and Privacy, from there, you can change your system to allow usage from Anywhere. As the Mac Application vendors adjust to this change, you’ll likely find this temporary workaround useful for other software you get from the net!
