What issues can be expected upon moving the workspace and eclipse install directory to new locations? After moving both, and selecting the new workspace location, eclipse freezes at the startup screen.

    Using Mac OS X 10.3.4, Eclipse RC1, MyEclipse 3.8B1

    John,

The best way to move Eclipse and MyEclipse is by installing them at new locations and deleting the old installations. There are some absolute paths that are created as part of both install processes so moving them around arbitrarily will prove problematic. However, with the new releases I haven’t found any issues when renaming (effectively moving) workspaces only.

Could you give me a synopsis of where the absolute refrences are so I might change them manually?

    John,

Sorry, but basically, no I can’t. I’m not sure where they’re created in Eclipse specifically as this tends to change with each new release. As a result, I don’t manually move an installation once I’ve started using it, in order to avoid problems just like what you’re experiencing since I don’t have time to figure it out either. 🙂
