Since the latest update I have multiple .mobi files saved. They annotated with _1_1_3. Can anyone tell me what this is and how to prevent it?

Those are backup files created by mobione during the upgrade process. The 1_1_3 is the file version number of the file. There is an option on the file upgrade dialog to enable/disable creation of a backup file. Also you can set your backup preference on the Windows>Settings>General dialog page.
