What is the best practice for having multiple web Projects that share the same src?

I have tried the Link Source option, but the performance of the application goes way down.

In essence I have multiple webroot folders (one for each project) but they all share the same source, and I do not want to have the source copied separately in each one. (the sync is a nightmare)

Can you explain “share the same source” in a little more detail? JEE is better at sharing Java than HTML, e.g.
