We are officially targetting May 15th for our Milestone 1 release of MyEclipse 5.0. As some of you know this is 2 weeks later than we had planned months ago, but there is a lot of work to do and we had two choices. Release M1 on time, but with lots of known bugs and piss of a lot of users with buggy software, or hold it back 2 weeks and fix all the known bugs *then* release it so folks that need to be on the Eclipse 3.2 platform could probably use it with some little hickups here and there. We opted for the later because no matter how “beta” software is, there is always a group of folks that actually need certain features in it and *will* install it as their primary environment, and we don’t want those folks ripping out their hair or dancing around installing/uninstalling versions just to get a stable setup.
As we get closer to the date if it shifts either way I’ll try and keep this post updated. We appreciate everyone’s support for this upcomming release, we are really looking for to 5.0 as a huge release for it.
NOTE: There is a lot of functionality planned for 5.0, and Milestone 1 *will not* be feature complete. So if you don’t see a feature that was promised in 5.0, in Milestone 1, don’t loose hope. We have a lot more planned for Milestone 2.
