MyEclipse 6.0.1 is constantly crashing on RHEL5. I have searched the forums and not seen any other postings that appear similar. Not using anything special except Jalopy plugin. Had similar problems with MyEclipse 5.5 and hoped the upgrade would fix it. Running from the command prompt the output is as follows:

    ./MyEclipse.sh
    Jalopy Source Code Formatter 1.6_152

Are there any errors being logged under <workspace>/.metadata/.log fle ?

Did you try running MyEclipse without the Jalopy plugin? Does it still crash ?

Thanks for the reply. I will try removing the Jalopy plugin and see if it makes a difference.

There are a bunch of errors generated in the .log file. This one seems to occur numerous times:

Done. We will see if this has any effect.

Also I removed the Jalopy plug-in and it still crashes.

I decided to run MyEclipse from the command line to see if I would get any other logging. When it crashed this time, this is what was displayed on the command line:

The program ‘Gecko’ received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was ‘BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)’.
    (Details: serial 8621449 error_code 1 request_code 0 minor_code 0)
    (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the –sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

    hmmm…

Are you making sure to set:

    export MOZILLA_HOME=""

before launching MyEclipse? If not, launching the visual designer *will* crash the IDE as it conflicts with the platform’s install of Mozila/Firefox and barfs because the IDE is linked against the libs we ship, not the platform libs.

    Woops, I meant:

    export MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME=""

This was commented out in my MyEclipse.sh file so I uncommented it, however, I do not use the visual designer. It has crashed probably 3 times today already. Everytime gives a different output. The most recent command line output is this:

Xlib: resource ID allocation space exhausted!
