1) I am afraid, you experienced an eclipse 3.6.1 issue which is inherited on ME 9.0, since it is based on Eclipse 3.6.1. Have a look at this thread:

2) As a workaround you can try closing and opening the project to stop raising the NPE.

Even after closing and opening the project, still getting the NPE. unable to work!

Did you close all the projects and open again. Could you take a look at the eclipse bugzilla as suggested by swapna and try out the other suggested approaches. I am afraid, that since ME 9.0 is based out of 3.6, this issue is inherited.
