    Hi,

I’ve just installed IE8 (Vista Ultimate 64bit) on my computer and now myeclipse doesn’t work. Has anyone else encountered this problem. Is there a fix for this?

    Thanks in advance.

    NuAlphaMan,
MyEclipse is not certified to run on 64 bit windows. Do you get an error messages? How did you setup MyEclipse? Did you use the All in One installer or the archive update site installer?

I had read in other forums that it was not a problem to run MyEclipse in 64 bit windows. I have it installed with Vista Ultimate 64 bit and IE7 and it runs fine. I used the all in one installer. I haven’t had a problem with it until I installed IE8. When I uninstall IE8, it works just fine. When I install IE8, it hangs on loading (it says its loading SQL Explorer) and never completes loading (and no error messages). Again, this only happens if I leave IE8 installed.

    NuAlphaMan,

This is an interesting find. May I ask you to PM your log files. You can find it under [ME Installation directory]/common/logs, and project specific under [MyEclipse workspace]/.metadata/.log. Also can you please copy and paste your installation detail here? You can get it from MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Detail. As Nipun mentioned above MyEclipse is not officially supported on Windows 64bit, this could be a resultant problem. I will have a dev team member investigate this.

Thank you NuAlphaMan for the installation summary. I have replied to your PM. Looks like your log file details that you have copy/pasted was truncated. I will appreciate if you can send a mail to support@genuitec.com with the .log file attachment and in the subject mention ATTN:Joy and refer to this thread.

    Thank you for your help.

    Joy,

I have found the problem. When I originally installed IE8, I made it my it my default browser and myEclipse stopped working (it hanged anytime I tried to load it). When this happened, I uninstalled IE8 and myEclipse started working again. I decided to reinstall IE8 and this time I didn’t make it my default browser (Firefox is the default) and now myEclipse loads. I decided to try this because of looking through the log files that you asked me to send you. Thanks for all of your help!
