I installed a few plugins after installing MyEclipse and on restart I get the following msg->

“The Myeclipse executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shared library.”

I have no clue what went wrong I was installing through the eclipse dashboard

What are the plugins you have installed in ME?

Looks like there was a conflict in MyEclipse executable launcher with that of the plugins installed.

For preliminaries, can you copy-paste the installation details. You can get that from MyEclipse menu click on MyEclipse -> Installation Summary -> Installation Details.

I cannot get into MyEclipse!! If MyEclipse was up and running I would not have posted the message! The message shows up when I start MyEclipse and nothing starts up. The plugins I installed are downloaded from the dashboard so I do not believe that they are not compatible. In fact, I have the same ones installed on my office PC and everything works well.

    hey ejvyas,

Sorry that you encountered this issue. Here is what you need you to do – Open pulse explorer, you need to go to Start – Programs – Pulse – Pulse Explorer. Once you open the pulse explorer, click on My Profiles – MyEclipse 7.0. On the right side, it will list you Base software, Shared software and Personal software. Delete all the personal sofware (right click on each personal software and click [remove]). After you have removed the personal software, right click on MyEclipse 7.0 and click on [Run]/[Install then run] / [Re-instal then run]

Let me know if this helps.

This just doesnt make any sense to me. Following your instructions I can get MyEclipse up and running but when I install any plugin I get the same error msg. Seems like there is some problem with MyEclipse or the Pulse installation Dashboard. Even if I install plugins like Subeclipse, Groovy I cant get it working. The base version is the only installation that works. Please help!!

Can someone help me with this please??

    If it helps:

“pulse-explorer launcher” error on install of myecplise 7.0

I was able to resolve an installation problem with MyEclipse 7.0 by deleting everything remotely eclipse or pulse related under the folder:

    C:\Users\Jack\AppData\Local\

Background :- I had to restore my PC and re-install Eclipse.

It looks to me as if the restored files under my profile conflicted with the download version of with the binaries.

Hope this means something to someonw 🙂

    ejvyas,

This behaviour is weird. Are you behind a firewall?

Can you copy paste your installation details for me to investigate this issue? You can get that from MyEclipse menu click on MyEclipse -> Installation Summary -> Installation Details.

Not behind any firewall. I am pretty sure it is a MyEclipse error message. Here are the installation details when it is running without any plugins. The moment I install any plugin from MyEclipse dashboard I get the error message and MyEclipse does not start up

    ejvyas,

What I *think* is happening is that your C:\Program Files\MyEclipse\myeclipse.ini file is getting erased every time you add a plugin — we’ve had a handful of people report this problem once but that was it — it sounds like you are seeing it every time… can you confirm this?

Make sure that file is there, then add personal software and restart and when it fails, see if it’s now gone?

Absolutely right. eclipse.ini is getting deleted. What is the solution to that problem? and why does this happen?

    ejvyas,

Can you walk me through the *exact* steps, on a clean install of MyEclipse that you take to have this happen? I want to try and reproduce it here.

Be super-specific — which update sites, which menus, which software are you adding, which optional pieces, etc.

ok I think I know now what is happening!!!

In the MyEclipse installation, if you modify the Installation director and the common software directory this error happens. It is nothing to do with plugins or my configuration. I think it is bug in the Installation of MyEclipse. I see that the installation creates c:\Program Files\Genuitec\MyEclipse and c:\Program Files\Genuitec\Common even before I specify the folders where I want this to be created which is absurd.

Please change both the locations and then close eclipse and restart it you will be able to reproduce the issue!!

    ejvyas,

Thank you for the steps to reproduce. This issue was fixed in 7.1 release. Can you update MyEclipse to the latest 7.1.1 and let me know if the problem persists? Sorry for the inconvinience.
