nileshkMemberWe purchased a subscription for a year, and it is on the last month of the subscription. One of our users is getting a dialog box saying that the subscription is going to run out in x number of days and gives the option to purchase or enter another key. It is acting as if it were a 30-day trial. This isn’t occuring for any of the other users, but this user did start using MyEclipse recently, and we had entered the key for him close to the start of the last month of the subscription (a few days before). We don’t really see why it would do this. We plan on renewing of course, but don’t understand why its nagging us when we have a paid subscription.
nileshkMemberIt is starting to do this for other users, too. It will randomly pop up with the nag screen.
Scott AndersonParticipantWe plan on renewing of course, but don’t understand why its nagging us when we have a paid subscription.
The reminder screen isn’t really random; it will come up one time, each time MyEclipse is restarted, when there is one month or less left on the subscription. The reason for the reminder is to prevent you from coming into work one day and suddenly seeing that several of the MyEclipse tools have stopped functioning. For corporate users, the intent is to give the developers enough of a lead time so that they can begin the repurchase process within their organization. We try to make the reminder as unobtrusive as possible by having it come up only on startup. Naturally, nothing pleases everyone so we apologize if you find it overly obtrusive. However, even with the reminder there isn’t a month that goes by without at least a few emergency requests for temporary keys because users were “suddenly surprised” that the subscription had expired.
Brandon RifeMemberI too started getting this message and decided to check out the state of the WTP before renewing my subscription. I just renewed for another year… 🙂
Scott AndersonParticipantGlad to hear it. Don’t forget, when WTP is fully baked, we’ll be building on it. Until then, we’ll continue to provide a reliable, expanding toolset for you.
