    … crashes awfully often.

Also, using jdk 1.4.1 (_01) is not possible, as the jsps just display “ERROR”

We’d like to help you, but we’re going to need a lot more information to even begin. Can you please provide all the information requested in the “Posting Guidelines” thread at the top of this forum in addition to a description of specifically what you’re experiencing? Once we have that information we’ll be able to help you determine what the problem is.

    – MacOSX 10.2.6 (incl. Java 1.4.1_01)
    – Eclipse v2.1.1, fresh install, no external plugins
    – MyEclipse v2.6.1
    – JDK Version: Eclipse.app/Contents/Info.plist sets it to 1.3.1

Since I would like to use the JDK 1.4.1 for running eclipse (perfomance, stability), manually editing this variable to 1.4.1 will break the JSP-Editor (it only displays “ERROR”, there seems to be an exception somewhere in de.bb.bje.eclipse_2.6.1).

The problem is that neither Eclipse, nor MyEclipse is tested with JDK 1.4.1. As a result, you’ll neither get performance nor stability by manually changing the JDK that runs Eclipse. It really must be 1.3.1 to run reliably. However, you can still use JDK 1.4.1 to launch your application servers so that you can take advantage of hotswap debugging and the other nice debugging features of JDK 1.4.1. But for Eclipse, it’s 1.3.1 only at this point.
