ajaymMemberHi,
I have installed MyEclipse 8.6.x on Windows 2003 Server.
We 3 developers want to access the installed MyEclipse to work simultaneously on a common project by taking Remote Desktop Connectivity (RDC) access. We have created 3 different workspace and work.
But we are finding some unpredictable issues. Like console is appearing on the first person started MyEclipse. to resolve such issue
So the question here is :
1. Can MyEclipse be installed with multiple instance on the server and change the port number and work togather ?
2. Does MyEclipse comes with Server edition which we need to install ?Warm regards,
Ajay Mehta
support-joyMemberAjay,
I believe, you are trying to use same MyEclipse setup with same project. You could try the collaboration tool that is available with MyEclipse, next share the profile with your teammates. If you wish to work on the same project, I would recommend you use a configuration tool such as CVS / VSS, etc and you should be all set. Also I” would recommend you refer SDC – Secure Delivery Center here – http://www.genuitec.com/sdc/
Let me know if that helps?

Sorry dear , this is not helping me.
My need is single installation of MyEclipise on the server and multiple developers uses the same installed copy. Please let me know how SDC can help me in this. What I understand from SDC documents is — manage licenses from single tool. but MyEclipise has to be installed on each developers computer.
Please guide me clearly whether single server based MyEclipse can be shared across developers ?
Warm regards,

Single server based MyEclipse can be shared across developers using the collaboration tool. And yes, it involves one time installation on each developer’s computer.
What is the type of license you are using? Is it a single or multi-user license? And why do you need to setup only a single MyEclipse IDE which is to be used by multiple developers? I am trying to understand your logic behind this setup. Secure Delivery Center allows user flexibility to create a custom MyEclipse profile once and share across the team. In your case, you could use the collaboration tool which is part of MyEclipse.
MyEclipse Collaboration tool allows multiple users to share the software configuration and workspace settings directly from MyEclipse. Open MyEclipse IDE, click on Help > MyEclipse Configuration Center. Choose the Collaboration tab. Click on [start sharing now] and follow the wizard. This allows you to install MyEclipse IDE on server and allow the same profile to be shared with a team of developers. Next the developers need to install the profile once and use the same installation. In case you are trying to install a single MyEclipse IDE with single user license and have multiple users work with the same, please note that this is against our license policy.
Let me know if I have answered your question.

I do not wish or intend to violate the license policy but to find a better solutio9n on the typical setup by saving hardware cost.
I tried collabration tool using Pulse. Process followed is : Shared the subscription to two users, Registered users, installed MyEclpise on shared developers instance (please note that I want same server to be used for RDC developer ). Change the port from default 8080 to 8181 and 8282.But the error what I received is attached in the file.
Kindly resolve the issue urgently by suggesting how to configure.
warm regards,

support-joyMemberAjay,
Thank you for the attached .log file. The issue points to Port 8009 and 8005 already in use. You could use the netstat -a to look for the program / process using these ports.
support-tonyKeymasterAjay,
If you are running all three instances on the same machine, you will have to change more than the http port since Tomcat opens several ports when running. The integrated Tomcat configuration can be found in the .metadata/.me_tcat/conf folder of your workspace directory; only the http port can be altered from the MyEclipse server preferences. For external Tomcat installations, none of the ports can be altered through preferences and you’ll have to change all through the Tomcat configuration file, server.xml.
