mcs13099MemberI recently downloaded and installed the Eclipse Europa distribution (JEE) from the Eclipse.org. After unzipping the distribution, I checked the Features and Plug-in details and it contained all the Data Tools, WTP, Web Services, JEE, features including the WS02 Axis2 stuff. When you go to Window – Preferences, you see all these features that can be configured.
Then I go install the MyEclipse 6.0 Plug-in installation (which I paid for) and during the install, it asks for the location of the Eclipse 3.3 Europa install. The installation proceeds fine. I start up MyEclipse OK….HOWEVER – now when I go into Window – Preferences, all of the Europa features that WERE there before are now gone, the list is signifecantly shorter. 1) I don’t want to use XFire for WS development. From what I have seen from others using, it is pretty unreliable and worthless. 2) When I go to the “About MyEclipse…” dialog and click on Plug-in Detalis button, all of the plug-ins appear to still be there. The ability to configure and use these features now appears to have been compromised by the MyEclipse Plug-in installation. WHY???
A very unhappy MyEclipse customer.
Loyal WaterMemberAre you using the Eclipse Classic version with MyEclipse ?

Loyal WaterMemberYou will have to grab Eclipse classic and run MyEclipse with this as the base version. What OS are you installing MyEclipse on ?
mcs13099MemberI am running on Win XP. I thought this product was supposed to work with Eclipse Europa 3.3. If I can’t run this product with all the Europa features as indicated, then I will take it up with customer service as I already paid for this and did not intend to pay for a product that claims to be compliant w/ Eclipse Europa and then disables half the stack to force MyEclipse standards like XFire. This is extremely disappointing. All the literature says “Eclipse Europa 3.3” – not basic, plain vanilla Eclipse.
mcs13099MemberWindows XP Professional – I went back and looked at your website…it clearly indicates that the Europa release should be used…it does not state that it must be “Classic”. If that is the case, and you want the features of the WTP that apparently MyEclipse “hides”, what are the options?
duncan.devoreMemberThis is really bad. If one has to use classic then myeclipse isn’t really a plugin. You guys should consider making myeclipse a stand alone IDE built on eclipse.
I also use Axis2 and have no interest in using xfire. So I am in a position that I simply can’t use myeclipse anymore even though I paid for it.
At least update your website and make your users aware of this grave problem.

If you go through the Eclipse Euphora packages on the download page that you have pasted in your post above (http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/) there is an Eclipse Classic package. That’s the package I was referring to.
