BestEclipseMemberI detected that serveral features of MyEclipse are not available under Eclipse for Mac OS X e.g. Web project capabilities. E.g. the JSF/JSP designer has only two tabs. I’m missing the design/design+code preview. What are the reasons for the reduced functionality and are there any plans to adjust the imbalances?

Mac OX X 10.4.x
MyEclipse 5.1.0
Eclipse 3.2.1
MacBook Pro 2,33 GHz (Intel Core 2 Duo)
Riyad KallaMemberBernhard,
The only features that don’t run on OS X right now are:
1) HTML/JSP Page designer
2) Matisse / UML
3) AJAX DebuggerThe reason for this is those features are tied into native work that haven’t been ported to the OS X platform yet and then fully tested. The reason Matisse and UML haven’t been ported yet are the result of a bug in the Eclipse platform that has a long history and requires a complex solution by both the Apple and Eclipse platform teams. It’s hard to say if and when the issue will be resolved.
There is no immediate ETA for these features coming to OS X as I just haven’t synced up with the product manager on these at the moment.
Chris KovacsMemberDo you now have an updated estimate for these features for OS X? The Ajax debugger in particular.
Thanks.
JasonMemberApple feels that they have fixed all outstanding issues related to the problem. They asked Genuitec for specifics on the issues they were having, but never heard back from them.
See comment #40 from Apple on Eclipse bug #145890.
It appears that this is not a high priority concern for the MyEclipse team, and that they have dropped the ball on OS X support.
chradjaMemberYes it’s true and i’m using Omondo UML plugin and visual editors in Eclipse and all is working fine since months now.
I’ve just renewed my subscription when i see that i can have a visual editor for HTML/AJAX dev i have to do, and i don’t have seen that there is still reduced functionality !!!
I realize it just after installing it. I fell bad and very stupid !!! 🙁
So i hope that missing features will be available very quickly (in fact if you use SWT it should work)
Riyad KallaMemberDon’t get all doomsday on us yet. jcowley thank you for all the links and information, I sent off an email to see what the deal is with this. We appreciate Scott taking time out to work with us.

I’m sorry for being impatient. I’ve been waiting for a fix for this since July 2005. I no longer buy Genuitec’s long standing response to this issue: “we can’t fully support OS X until the Eclipse Team / Apple fix the bug.”
This is from Genuitec’s home page:
Eclipse Leadership
Genuitec is a leader in the Eclipse open source community. As a founding member of the Eclipse Foundation, Genuitec serves on the Foundation’s board of directors and actively participates in strategy development and direction for the organization. Genuitec is also a founding member and sponsor of Eclipse Plug-In Central, a resource for open source and commercial Eclipse plug-ins.With such a prominent and active role in the (open source) Eclipse project, it is the responsibility of Genuitec, not others, to aggressively work toward a resolution of this issue. However, it’s clear from reading the comments on this Eclipse bug (and the related ones that proceeded it) that Genuitec/MyEclipse have not been actively engaged in finding a resolution.
So, here we are, over a year and half later and still no resolution in sight. The only explanation is that Genuitec must feel that OS X support is not really worth the investment.
LarsHermesMemberI am also waiting quite a long time for full OS X support! Sadly but true, I’ve downloaded Netbeans to investigate if it will be an adequate alternative for my longtime development favorite 🙁 I was very disappointed by Netbeans years ago, but now it seems that the guys have done their homework. As a conclusion: when the time is up, I will do a detailed examination if an further renewal of my subscription will fit my needs.
rnicholsonMemberHi ,
What is the latest MyEclipce version for Mac OS?
Where shall I downloaded from?
What are the prequisites (JRE version? JDK version?
Is MyEclipse stable on the Mac?
GregMemberHey guys,
Just some new info that has been requested.
The latest version of MyEclipse is 7.0 and it now comes with a full Mac installer. Go to home page http://www.myeclipseide.com and you will see a download link. From that page, select MyEclipse 7.0 and then scroll down to see the Mac specific installer.
The JDK/JRE that is required is Java 5.0 any version.
MyEclipse ships with a built in copy of JRE 1.5.0_11 so if you don’t have a jre that matches that one, it will be used for your MyEclipse out of the box.
GregMemberWith regards to the UML support questions on Mac. Now in MyEclipse 7.0 we have a new Early Access release of MyEclipse UML2. This is a brand new feature for UML2 support in MyEclipse. It is fully supported on Mac. So for those of you that were waiting on UML1 to be supported, sorry to disappoint but the challenges for the mac platform (Mac platform bug) are still there. For UML2 though this isn’t the case and UML2 support in MyEclipse on Mac is equal to our windows version.
