    Hello,

we are planning to use MyEclipseIDE instead of another tool in our company as soon as possible.
Since we use Eclipse 3.1 we are waiting for a final release of MyEclipseIDE 3.8 for Eclipse 3.1 final.
When will be a 3.8 version available for Eclipse 3.1?

    Regards,
    Felix

    Felix,

We won’t be releasing a version of MyEclipse 3.8 for Eclipse 3.1 final. Instead, we’ve made MyEclipse 4.0M2 available on Eclipse 3.1. For all the functionality that is in MyEclipse 3.8.4, version 4.0M2 is production quality. It’s only a milestone release while we finish out some of the latest features. However, if you liked 3.8.4 on Eclipse 3.0, you should have no problems with 4.0M2 on Eclipse 3.1.

FYI, we’re planning on releasing 4.0M3 toward the end of the month with 4.0 final in mid August.

    Scott,
thank you for the quick answer!
Ok, we will use version 4 with Eclipse 3.1. MyEclipseIDE 4 seems to be stable.
But I’m missing still some things:

    – Struts Modules support (in MyEclipseIDE 4 it is possible to open a struts module configuration file ‘struts-config-admin.xml’ for example, but MyEclipseIDE does not recognize the correct pathes).
FYI: the product “Exadel Studio” by Exadel has a simple but good solution for this problem. There exists a “Struts modules configuration” dialog which you can use to set up all the needed pathes.

    – not a must have, but for me a nice feature: “Open action source” and “Open form bean source” as entries in the context menu in the graphical Struts editor.

    – a “Restart” – Button for the used Application Server: I often have to restart the Tomcat during development. So a restart button would simplify this.

The first point is important for us!

You should be able to double click the graphical elements in the diagram to jump to their source.

As to the other points, Restart has been addressed quiet a few times in the forums, short version, something better all around will be comming soon hang in there. For the modules support I’m asking one of the Struts team to reply to this.

    Felix,
Sorry for the delay, your Struts question was sent to the Struts team, I will double check on that.
