zambizziMemberI bought a subscription last year (in Feb.) and it will be up on Feb 14th. I’m getting a nag screen every 20 min. or so reminding me, how can I get rid of it? I know, I could purchase another subscription and it’d go away…but for now I can’t do that and it’s really irritating to have to look at that thing every few minutes.
Thanks!
GregMemberCurrently there is no way to avoid the subscription renewal screen without renewing. 🙂
More seriously, we did not choose our current policy without much thought and concern for our customers. In past versions, we did our best to not “nag” the user about their renewal. What we found was that a large number of our customers were getting very annoyed that we didn’t remind them more often about their need for renewing. Their argument was stated as something like this:
If you just remind us once, we forget, then we get to the end of our subscription and it just goes out suddenly. One day we go into work and we have a big deadline and boom, MyEclipse subscription has expired. Then we have to submit a request to management for purchase of another year’s subscription which takes 1-2 days to get approved and purchased. Meanwhile, I’m stuck with expired subscription and a deadline. Why in the world aren’t you reminding me more often that I need to renew so this doesn’t happen?
We thought about this and weighed the pros/cons and we decided that our customer’s success in their jobs was most important. And having the subscription suddenly expire in the middle of important work wasn’t a way to help them do that. So we put in the current policy of more aggressive reminders of an upcoming renewal deadline, so you wont get caught in the same trap.
I hope this helps you appreciate our decision a little more. After thinking about this, if you feel we are still not taking the right approach, please email your thoughts and concerns to subscriptions@genuitec.com. Those guys set our renewal policy and they will take your suggestions under consideration.
hefterMemberThats no good solution. I hate this screen. We bought 5 licenses and each of us gets this nag screen all day!! A better solution would be a checkbox/selection: remind me in 1/3/5/10 days/remind me never again.
I feel a little under pressure to spend you my money to get rid of this screen. This is some kind of patronizing my will to prolong the subscription.
Btw. renewal of the subscription just takes a few minutes. So start to remind 14 days before the end should be enough even for big/slow companies. You nag me 30 days before each day!
I hate this “feature” . I use my own scheduler and write this “job” into it. If other customers misuse your program as a scheduler it should not be my concern.
Scott AndersonParticipantI’d hate that feature too, because what you’re reporting is not the intended “remind rate”. The software should only remind you one time when MyEclipse is started each time within the 30-day window prior to subscription expiry. There’s nothing in the software that reminds you on a timed interval or anything like that. So, we need to look into what you’re describing to see if we can address it. Are the reminders occuring during your normal use of the product, or are you launching a PDE session with MyEclipse installed in it? Can you provide any specific actions that always cause the warning to be displayed?
