neydeMemberWe have received feedback from some MyEclipse Pro 8.5 users that they want to be able to evaluate/install MyEclipse for Spring 8.5 with existing installations of MyEclipse Pro. In response to this feedback we’ve enabled a new add-on option for adding MyEclipse for Spring 8.5 plugins to MyEclipse Pro 8.5. This option went live this past weekend.
Some MyEclipse Pro 8.5 users have also reported licensing issues with evaluating MyEclipse for Spring 8.5. If you have licensing issues running separate instances of MyEclipse Pro 8.5 and MyEclipse for Spring 8.5 side-by-side, then we strongly suggest that you use the new add-on option.
The add-on option is available from the Dashboard tab of the Software and Workspace Center in MyEclipse Pro. See the included screenshot. By default the “MyEclipse for Spring” option is disabled. If you check this option and click the “Apply change” button, the MyEclipse for Spring plugins will be installed.
Satwa S. RaoMemberHi, Ive also posted a reply on the installation topic but got no reply so far.
Would you mind pointing me how to install this on my eclipse which has the flash builder dropin
Is there a way to make a dropin of this IDE into my existing eclipse too?
BTW I am on a Mac OS X if that matters and or requires cocoa / carbon distros.
Cheers,
Satwa

Currently MyEclipse for Spring is available as a stand-alone installer, a Pulse profile, and as an add-on to MyEclipse Pro. We don’t currently have a mechanism for installing into a standard Eclipse install.
However we’ve had many developers install Flash Builder into MyEclipse for Spring. So that’s another option to consider. Lately we’ve been doing a lot of work with Flex as part of the new Flex scaffolding options in MyEclipse for Spring 8.6. We just release a public milestone today.
Satwa S. RaoMemberThanks Niel, I appreciate your assistance.
I successfully moved the contents in the raw eclipse dropin folder to the myeclipse dropin folder and it worked like a charm.
I will continue my eval to purchase this later.
This scaffolding stuff is what I am looking for as I am tired of recoding everything due to wrong or misunderstood specs.
this is a true lifesaver and sanity tool for my kind of work.
Thanks again,
Satwa S. RAO
dshroutMemberI do not see this option for MyEclipse Blue. Do Blue and Spring need to be separate installs?
Thanks,
Don

davemeurerMemberHi Don,
Yes, Blue and Spring are separate installs at this time. So, you won’t see the Spring add-on in MyEclipse Blue.
Kind regards,

devon_fowlerMemberI have an expired version of MyEclipse Pro. What is the best path to MyEclipse for Spring without loosing existing settings and projects? Do I need to purchase Pro and also purchase the For Spring version?
Hopeful to renew,
DeVon
davemeurerMemberHi DeVon,
You only need to purchase the MyEclipse for Spring version. MyEclipse for Spring includes all the MyEclipse Pro features, and you won’t have to switch IDEs as shown earlier in this thread by installing the MyEclipse for Spring add-on. In other words, once you obtain the ME4S license it will work in MyEclipse Pro.
HTH,
