Brian BezansonParticipantI installed the MyEclipse 2015 CI version on my Mac OS 10.9.4 (JDK 8u5) and when I bring up the install updates window it shows the 2 default sites for MyEclipse (Eclipse Discovery and Genuitec SDC Upsell), but when I click on the link to see the preference for “Available Software Sites”, the preference do not show that pane, instead defaulting to “Automatic Updates” under “Install/Update”.
I then installed the Eclipse EE version of Luna and I also installed the new STS 3.6.0 on my Mac and both of those show the preference pane is there
On my windows system (JDK 1.7u50) I had also installed MyEclipse 2015 CI and it does have the preference pane.
support-tonyKeymasterbezanson,
Sorry you’re seeing this issue. I couldn’t replicate it on my system, which isn’t identical to yours though I’d like to confirm a few things before trying further to replicate it.
You mentioned “install updates” but, presumably, you meant “Install from site”, a menu item on the help menu. Clicking on the Available Software Sites link there brings up the normal Preferences dialog and should have the “Available Software Sites” page in focus. Is this the route you took? Is the “Available Software Sites” page not there under the Install/Update node, or is it there but showing no sites?
There are at least three ways to get to the preferences window and I don’t think they should produce different results but it might be helpful to confirm. The other two ways are:
- to go to the Preferences window via the main “MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench” menu
- enter “avail” in the “Quick Access” text box just to the left of the perspectives list to the right of the toolbars, then select “Available Software Sites”.
Please try those, just to check that the route to the preferences doesn’t affect this.
You say that you are using JDK 8, but is that simply installed on your machine or are you actually using the JDK to run MyEclipse? This is specified in the myeclipse.ini file which is in the same folder as the myeclipse executable (see this post for help on locating that folder).
Lastly, could you please try switching to a new workspace to see if you get the same issue.
If you’re still seeing the issue, please attach a screen shot of the preferences window with the Install/Update node expanded. Also, please attach the .log file located in the .metadata folder of your workspace (please clear the log first, then replicate the issue to produce a less cluttered log file).
