Hi,
Can someone please tell me what i need to do to get this resolvedIam getting a Error while creating maven projects
There is no settings.xml file in the reporsitroy folder
below is the message that i get while creating the maven project
Could not resolve archetype org.apache.maven.archetypes:maven-archetype-quickstart:RELEASE from any of the configured repositories.
Could not resolve artifact org.apache.maven.archetypes:maven-archetype-quickstart:pom:RELEASE

Sorry that you are seeing this problem.
1. Can you please clarify if you are behind a firewall or proxy?
2. If you are behind a firewall or proxy, then in addition to configuring the proxy details in the IDE (Window > Preferences > General > Network Connections), you will also have to also point to the settings.xml in the IDE. Please go to Window>Preferences>MyEclipse>Maven4MyEclipse>User Settings and check if the path to the settings.xml is right? If there is no settings.xml file in the .m2 directory, create a file called settings.xml in [user]/.m2 directory and add in the “bits” for the proxy:
http://maven.apache.org/settings.html3. Make sure there are no extra spaces at the start of the settings.xml file. Please make sure the host,username and password are correct in the settings.xml. Also check if the proxy is working by trying to telnet it : telnet [proxy] [port number]
If you are still seeing problems, then please share with us the MyEclipse version details along with the contents of the settings.xml file and share with us the complete workspace log file which is located at workspace dir/.metadata/.log to help us investigate further. Also share with us more details about the proxy and its setup.

I do not see any proxy related information in your settings.xml file. Please check this url for sample settings.xml format : http://maven.apache.org/settings.html#Proxies and create the file accordingly.

You can check if you can create a Maven project by selectingCreate a simple project (skip archetype selection)in the wizard. Please give the suggestions a try.This forum provides support for MyEclipse and if you are not using MyEclipse or CodeMix, then you should check with M2 forums for better support. You can also post to development forums like stackoverflow.com for more suggestions.
