On a machine running Fedora Test 6 (Zod), I copied the MYEclipse_5_1_1GA_Installer.bin to the /tmp directory, set up a temporary work area and then executed the .bin. After reporting Preparing to install…, I get the error: The included VM could not be extracted…

On this particular box, I am running Sun’s Java 1.6. If you type ‘java -version’ at the system prompt, it reports the currect version of Java and not the java that came with Fedora.

    Any hints?

Additional info: I’m also getting the message: Couldn’t add FAM monitor, … memory allocation failure…

That was a failure of another program that is not related to the problem encountered when trying to install MyEclipse.

    Ewin,
Please download and use the Manual Install (it’s a ZIP file) to work around this issue. Sometimes the installers have problems with platform specific details and it’s much faster to use the Manual Install to work around the issue then to trouble shoot the installer.
