b0rgMember– System Setup ——————————-
Operating System and version: WinXPprofSP1, german
Eclipse version: 2.1.2
Eclipse build id: 200311030802
Fresh Eclipse install (y/n): y (4 weeks ago)
If not, was it upgraded to its current version using the update manager?
Other installed external plugins: –
Number of plugins in the <eclipse>/plugins directory that begin with org.eclipse.pde.*: 7
MyEclipse version: 2.6.200
Eclipse JDK version: Build id: 200312091200-2.7-RC1 (I installed RC2 !?!)
Application Server JDK version: 1.4.2_03, build 1.4.2-b28
Are there any exceptions in the Eclipse log file? NO– Message Body ——————————-
Version control: in this case CVS, with pserver.
Just have seen this for all XML files in my WEB-INF directory, like web.xml, validation.xml, struts-html.tld (own files also, e.g. scheduler.xml, sap-connection.xml), except for “struts-config.xml”:
– right click on file > Team > Show in Resource History
– double click on some entry in the CVS Resource History
– the editor displays a thin blue horizontal bar and below it “ERROR”. Also, the outline pane is trying to show some XML outline until DOCTYPE, except for the file “struts-config.xml”, which is displaying ok, but without syntax highlighting and without outline! Maybe this is the hint. This behaviour is independent of the number of versions which that file might have.
Thanks in advance,
Victor
Riyad KallaMemberVictor,
I tried this with your exact setup (CVS, pserver, web.xml and other xml files) and was unable to reproduce it. However when opening the struts-config, I did notice the lack of Syntax Highlighting as well as the lack of an Outline view… I’ll send this message to Scott/Michael and see what they can find.
Scott AndersonParticipantVictor,
This sounds very much like the work of a bug in the XML editor that has been fixed and will be part of the 2.7 GA release in a couple of days. The bug was basically that the editor would fail to open if a referenced DTD could not be found. The new release should clear it up for you.
Riyad KallaMemberVictor let me know if its ok to close this thread. after you install 2.7 GA don’t hestitate to post again if you still find this problem.
b0rgMemberRiyad, fow now it’s ok to close it, I can’t do anything about it anyway 😉
Don’t be afraid, I’ll complain again if it’s not fixed in 2.7 GA 😆
Victor
Riyad KallaMemberOk sounds good, we need someone to keep us in line 😀
