The location (url) displays nothing, though it does work i.e. I can paste in a url and hit return and the browser will go to the desired location.

After starting up today (view was left in place when I last shutdown), the location bar displays properly.

Sorry, after using it once, same issue occurs, nothing in the location field.

Can you swtich to a new workspace and try using the browser again. Does the problem persist ?

Can you go to MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details and paste the information here for me.
