Using eclipse 3.1 M2 in combination with MyEclipse 3.8.2 still gives out of memory errors (using 768Mb JVM). We’ve got quite a large number of projects (28) but the vanilla eclipse is happy working with them. When installing my-eclipse the trouble starts…

Validation on large number of projects takes alot of memory. You can turn off MyEclipse automatic validator from the Window->Preferences->MyEclipse->Validation and deselect “Run validation automatically…”. So validation wont happen automatically by opening projects or saving resources. However, you can validate entire projects or just single files or folders using the right-click menu on the package manager: MyEclipse->Run Validation.

Actually, the memory consumption issue with validation was fixed in 3.8.2. Please make sure you’re using the latest release and that should address the issue.
