I’m in the process of evaluating MyEclipse-Blue as Alternative to RAD in our company. I’ve downloaded the trial version of MyEclipse-Blue 10.6 and followed the instructions to set up development environments using WAS 7.0 connector within IDE. When I created JAX-WS Web Services for WebSphere using Tutorial and tried to deploy it into WAS 7, I’m getting the following error. Any help will be appreciated.

    ad9c14,

Sorry that you are seeing this issue.

    1. Can you please check if increasing the memory settings in myeclipse-blue.ini file (It can be found in the same folder as your MyEclipse Blue executable) helps ? Open it in any text editor and change the values based on the size of your workspace. For instance, the following settings may be preferable to the defaults.
    Code:
    -vmargs
    -Xmx768m
    -XX:MaxPermSize=384m

    2. Did you add IBM jars to the classpath? How large is your application (approximately, if, for instance, you had exported it as an EAR)

    3. Clear the deployment.log, now try deploying the JAX-WS Web Service and copy paste the entire contents of the deployment.log here for us to investigate further.

    ad9c14,

Also let us know if you have modified the Websphere server connector in any way when configuring with MyEclipse.

I increased the memory settings in myeclipse-blue.ini file and I don’t get the OutOfMemory error any more.

I think the main problem is this. In my project I have set Target Server to WAS 7 and it added WAS7 runtime jar files into project Build Path. So When I tried to deploy the project into the server, the WAR file size was almost 100MB. So I did “Uncheck” “Jars from users libraries” and “User library jars exported from dependent java projects from Web Deployment settings and it works great.

Now I have another problem. I added JAX-RS support into my project which added the following two User Libraries to Java Build Path.

    JAX-RS Core Libraries
    JAX-RS JAXB Libraries

Unchecking “Jars from users libraries” and “User library jars exported from dependent java projects” prevent JAX-RS Jar files being included from exported WAR file. It makes sense not including WAS 7 runtime jar files into WAR while exporting it. but I do want to include JAX-RS jar files into exported WAR file.

Can you help me on this ?

    Thanks

    ad9c14,

In the end of the next week (26.10.2012), we are going to release MyEclipse 10.7 with several bug fixes, including the one you are facing – WAS runtime library being deployed. This issue affects only Web projects. For now, you can do the following workaround:

    1. Open .mymetadata file from the root folder of Web project
    2. Paste following code inside <project-module> element:

    <packaging-strategy>com.genuitec.eclipse.blue</packaging-strategy>

    3. Restart/open MyEclipse
    4. The workaround should be removed when updated to ME10.7
