How do I incorporate the pinch and zoom capabilities in my APP. Is there a way to do this yet?

Again, is there a way to make my APP pinch and zoom?

    Thanks,

    Hi Celeste,

MobiOne generates apps with zoom disabled. This is for several reasons:

    1) more mobile web framewosk include MobiOne’s phoneui.js are very sensitive to layout and scale. Thus zooming the UI goofs it up in some cases. One area is clashes with iScroll (we use this component for smooth scrolling in Panel component).

    2) The Test Center emulator does not support pinch-zoom scaling cleanly.

Can you share some details of what you wish to zoom in on, e.g., a picture, map, …? Perhaps we can find a workaround.

    Hi Octavio:

Sorry to just now get back with you but I have been out of town.

I would like the pinch and zoom feature for my app because on each screen there is alot of data for someone to use on a iphone. If each screen could zoom (get larger) somehow, then the user wouldn’t feel like they are trying to put information in small cells.

    Do you have any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Celeste

    Hi Celeste,

PINCH & ZOOM it is not generally supported at this time. We are investigating if/how we can make such capability available.

    More info:

MobiOne UI’s fix the UI zoom/scale level to 1.0. This is to avoid some odd behaviors when the full screen is zoomed. Use of fixed scale is not unique to the mobione ui framework (phoneui) as most app UIs do not zoom except for special scenarios. For example we are working to provide specialized zooming such as with an image gallery.

The Test Center provides a rough version of pinch-zoom of general websites that do not have a fixed zoom level.

    Pan scrolling: ctrl + left-mouse-drag
    Pinch/Zoom: ctrl + alt + left-mouse-drag
