kevincrockerMemberI’ve found MyEclipse to be a very good product – with some minor annoyances.
However, the one thing that is really annoying is the completely outdated
Manual-install document that has a date of August 11, 2006 but has contents
that are forMyEclipse 3.8 Manual Installation
This just plain doesn’t look like you pay attention to details – which for someone
who is making recommendations to clients all the time is a very odd thing to
try to explain. This is not something that I should need to gloss over or cover up on your behalf.
Please fix this – it really should take a whole lot of time. Actually, since you seem to have trouble
with this I’m going to upload the corrected file here – now, it may not be perfect
but at least it doesn’t say MyEclipse 3.8 and Eclipse 3.0 anymore.

MyEclipse Installation Model

MyEclipse conforms to the Eclipse Product Extension
Architecture. This is a packaging model that allows MyEclipse to be
installed outside of the core Eclipse installation and has a parallel
directory structure similar to that of an Eclipse install. This
approach significantly reduces the risk of corrupting your Eclipse base
installation during the install process due to conflicting plugins being
installed or overwritten.
entire product of Features and Plugins is managed by
Eclipse even those not deployed directly into Eclipse’s Features/Plugin
directories. For more information about the Eclipse Product

Riyad KallaMemberKevin,
We appreciate you taking the time to do this. The reason this document does not get updated with each release is because version 3.8.0 was the first version we introduced the manual install, and since then the steps to install the manual install has not changed, so this manual is applicable to all versions from 3.8.0 to 5.0.1 strangely enough.I do think you bring up a good point that we should make a note about this at the top of the file. I’ll bring it up with management.
