Using MyEclipse 4.0.1. When trying to access Help for the IDE, I goto Help>Help Contents, I get the following error:

    Network Error (tcp_error)
A communication error occurred: “Connection refused”

The happens using the internal browser and using IE. IE is configured to use my company’s proxy script file.
Is there a setting I can change to be able to access Help? Or do I need to download the help and load it on a company server?

    TIA.

The issue is likely the proxy script file since the help system loads up Tomcat on your machine and then tries to access it directly. Or, it could be a software firewall on your machine that won’t allow your machine to connect when it spins up Tomcat. Hard to say precisely. However, you can always get to the latest version of our Help on our website in the Documentation Section.

If Tomcat is getting loaded, it sounds like Eclipse is trying to access Help on my PC…is this correct? I thought it was trying to access Help on myeclipseide.com. Could you please supply detailed information regarding what Eclipse does when I select Help>Help Contents from the menu bar?
    TIA

The internal Eclipse help system has a version of Tomcat that ships with it that it then starts and uses to serve help on your machine. So, Eclipse will spin up Tomcat on your machine and connect to it locally. You can configure the port you’d like to use for the server at Window > Preferences > Help > Help Server
