I just downloaded the new version 8.6, in order to migrate from 7.5 version that I am using.
After installing the program without errors, on Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit verison, I am trying to use the new configuration center in order to add plugins (Subclipse).
After selecting the Subclipse 1.6, and validation of the add-on installation starts, it fails with the following error:

    Bad Update Site.com.genuitec.pulse2.client.commin.launcher.BadUpdateSiteException
Software being installed: MyEclipse 8.6 (Profile) (com.poweredbypulse.profile-0-rb…)
Missing requirement: MyEclipse (Profile) com.poweredbypulse.profile-0-rb… requires org.tigris.subversion.subsclipse.feature.group 0.0.0 but it could not be found

Can you please suggest any solutions on the above problem? It is imperative for me to use SVN.

    Thank you in advance

    sip03ds,

Can you answer below questions –
    1. How did you install ME 8.6? Using all-in-one installer / pulse /archived update site on top of eclipse classic?
    2. Are you behind firewall / proxy?
    3. Can you list out the steps you have taken to install subclipse using myeclipse configuration center?

I would recommend you a quick fix using pulse.
    1. Open Pulse (Start > Programs > Pulse > Pulse Explorer or download from http://www.poweredbypulse.com)
    2. Login to Pulse
    3. Select “Eclipse-Galileo” realm from top left hand corner dropdown
    4. Select “MyEclipse 8.6” from “My Profiles”
    5. Right click on “MyEclipse 8.6” and click on [Re-install and run]
    6. This will open a wizard which will guide you through the rest of the steps.

Let me know how this works for you?

This 8.6.1 configuration center thing has given me a lot of trouble

    1. VERY slow at start up (Loading Software and Workspace Center … 25,40,%) 5~10 minutes.

    2. Tried to install subclipse (1.4/1.6), subversive, always stuck as “resolving and validating the profile…” step.

    3. I can access myeclipseide.com website from the built-in browser, so the proxy setting should be fine, but if I try to modify the proxy setting (MyEclipse ->Preferences->General->NetworkConnections), the whole IDE freezes and it has to be killed.

    Any suggestions? please help.

I retried, followed your steps, got my problem resolved.Thanks.

    My question now is:
Does this mean we have to download PULSE, install, register, create online account, in order to make changes in the Configuration Center?

    semside,

Good to hear you are all set. No, it is not mandatory to download pulse, install, register, create an online account in order to make changes in the configuration center. I had advised an alternate way to quick fix the bad update site issue, which worked like a charm 🙂

thanks, but the problem with us was, without using Pulse, no matter how we tweak the network/proxy setting, the Configuration Center just could not connect to the server to retrieve the plug-ins. Is this a known issue?

    semside,

No this is not a known issue. Can you verify if you have set all your proxies in ME here – Window > Preferences > General > Network Connections?
