I downloaded myeclipse-8.5.0-linux-gtk.tgz from your web site (all-in-one installer for 32 bit Linux) and tried to install it on a linux machine. I get a message that the binary file is not executable. Do I need to also download an installer or have I missed some essential step?

    Thanks for the help,
    Brian

    Brian,

I downloaded myeclipse-8.5.0-linux-gtk.tgz from your web site

This downloaded file is the installer file. I think your downloaded file is incomplete. Can you please verify the file size and md5 sum matches that mentioned in the download site?
For your convenience, I have copy pasted the file size and md5 for 32 bit linux all-in-one installer below –
    File size: 853.26 MB
    MD5 : 32Bit:db44e273c9443d4d1bbff90456392312d

Apparently, something went wrong. I have a size of 894.71 and a different checksum.

I downloaded the linux installer again. For logistic reasons, I have to download to a Windows machine and then ftp to the Linux box. When I download the file, it lists as 853 mb, but it takes up 874 mb on the disk. When I ftp it to Linux, its size expands to 894 mb. The checksum is b44e273c9443d4d1bbff90456392312d, which is the same as the one you listed except it’s missing the first digit. The 874 is the conversion to full blocks and the 894 is the conversion to bytes, so I understand the numbers. I don’t understand why the checksum is so close. I still get the error that the binary file is not executable.

Is there a way to load MyEclipse directly on top of Eclipse through the Eclipse add new software facility?

    bhammond8587,

Yes. You need to download Eclipse 3.5.2 Classic version. And you can either use the MyEclipse update site or download MyEclipse archived update site and install on top of Eclipse.
To Install Using Eclipse Update Site: be sure Eclipse 3.5.2 “Classic” is installed.
Start Eclipse > Select Help > Software Updates > Available Software Tab > Add Site > Enter this URL
    http://downloads.myeclipseide.com/downloads/products/eworkbench/galileo/enterprise-stable

From there you just “Next” your way through the wizard and MyEclipse will be installed for you.

To install using archived update site please refer – https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/installation-install-myeclipse-using-archived-update-site/&highlight=

    Joy,
After much ado, I found the step I’d missed. I didn’t untar the file I downloaded; that’s why it wouldn’t execute. Once I did that, I could run the installer.
I also went through the Eclipse Classic routine, but I was getting an xwindows error at the end of the install; so I think the install failed.
    Thanks for the help,
    Brian

    Brian,

Good to hear you are all set. For Eclipse Classic, please verify the file size and md5 of the installer.
Did you download the windows version or linux version of Eclipse? Most probably this could be the result of the wrong installer file.
    Best.
