Derek CookParticipantHi, I’m trying to install the latest 5.5. GA full stack download on a laptop running Vista Basic Home edition (the summer’s looming and I want to work outside!), but I am getting the following error. The same error also occurred on the M2 release which worked fine on my main computer, which is running XP.

I tried completely removing previous versions, and also all previously installed JVMs. I didn’t have time on the GA release last night, but I did try starting the M2 release with the -clean option.
Any clues?
Loyal WaterMemberHi dacook,
This sounds like a permission problem to me. Can you right-click the MyEclipse shortcut and click “Run as Administrator” and see if it works?
Derek CookParticipantMany thanks for that advice. That did the trick.
I’m confused though, as I only have one account on the laptop, which is me as an administrator, so (out of curiosity) how come I had to select “run as administrator”?
PS: great product! 🙂
Loyal WaterMemberThe reason is that on Vista users are no longer administrators by default, which is one of the reasons viruses and spyware hit Windows users so hard as opposed to Unix/Linux/Mac users, where default users are not administrators.
