Rob SilverParticipantHello,
I have tried in vain to follow the steps laid out in the tutorial:
http://www.myeclipseide.com/documentation/quickstarts/ME4STutorialScaffoldingGWT/scaffoldinggwtarticle.html
I installed the G plugin as suggested. and got the following error see the screenshot
at the configure GWT step:
e.g It would not let me change the location of the war file
See attached screenshotPLEASE HELP – I MUST GET GWT working in some form today!

support-swapnaModeratorrss245b,
Sorry that you are seeing this issue.
1. Can you please recheck if the Google Web Toolkit SDK is configured or not ?
Go to Window > Preferences > Google > Web Toolkit. If it is not yet configured and listed here then click on Add to add it. For the Installation Directory, browse to <MyEclipse Installation Folder >Common\plugins\com.google.gwt.eclipse.sdkbundle_2.4.0.v201205091048-rel-r37\gwt-2.4.0. Check it to make it the default SDK.
To check where the Common folder is for your machine, take a look at this FAQ :
https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/installation-where-are-the-myeclipse-files-and-folders/2. Once added, the SDK will show up for you to select. Attached is the screenshot for your reference.
Let us know how it works for you.

Rob SilverParticipantI went back to a working sample in IntelliJ Idea running Jetty, however, in MyEClipse 10.50
running Tomcat Server I get
INFO: validateJarFile(C:\Users\RS\Workspaces\Gw2\.metadata\.me_tcat\webapps\try1\WEB-INF\lib\gwt-user.jar) – jar not loaded. See Servlet Spec 2.3, section 9.7.2. Offending class: javax/servlet/Servlet.class
but I do not know what it means can you tell me what it means and how to fix itWhat does this mean and how do I fix it?
Rob SilverParticipantI am perplexed supposedly I did everything correctly. I am going to try things with the latest version of JDK 1.6 update 5 but thus far I see no javascript getting generated and when I click on the button for the scaffolding CUSTOMER app per the Tutorial All I get is a rectangle that it is [loading… ]
No data shows.
Also thus far I can only get GWT working in IntelliJ Idea NOT MYECLIPSE where the GWT Plugin actually is said to work with it.Please advise. I am very frustrated with this. I am trying 1.7 update 5 in the hope that everything will work properly but do not have a lot of hope….
Rob SilverParticipantWhatever was done in MyEclipse 10.50 really messed things up for GWT plug-in.
Its a disaster. Every time I create a new workspace I have to enter a long winded path to to my GWT jar files i web properties first.I can not use examples in the EXT GWT tutorial books. There are no decent examples
and the scaffolding example I counted on got stuck after the button was pressed from1st page. Ins short you should remove the GWT is included in MyEclipse or MyEclipse for spring. There are no decent examples and none I can even enter. I am horribly disappointed in how ME4S is working these days – Just awful! You may be charging $25 for next year’s product if it keeps up and the support frankly has been not so good given that there are such problems.I would really like to know how such a popular Framework has 0 Examples on Demand!
How there is no way to get a decent example that works with Tomcat and MyEclipse!!!
I am finding myself going back to Jee Eclipse and that is just wrong. i should be able to do what I do in eclipse in MyEclipse and clearly I can not!!!
support-swapnaModeratorrss245b ,
Sorry that you are seeing issues. I have escalated it to a dev team member. They will get back to you.
Rob SilverParticipantI was upset I admit it I just spent a day in hell not understanding a thing about GWT plug-ins and having already been frustrated trying to understand why I even have to use Compile GWT which I understand creates the JavaScript code on the client side. What I do not understand is why the only GWT example of the Scaffolding tutorial is not working as specified. That nonsense with the having to enter the path into the properties
window preferences dialogs instead of keeping the information for GWT setup was a pain
I since copied the path to a file to copy and paste but wow that was not fun.
Also after following the long winded GWT scaffolding tutorial only to get a basic front page followed by Loading… box and no information was really no fun. I was pretty through
Of course I am running JDK / JRE 1.7 update 5 – Maybe that has something to do with the problem, but frankly you need to get that in mothballs Example on Demand I see pending up.
Even a basic tutorial with a canned GWT web application as found through Jetty
Please excuse my rave above – It is just that you have a basically good product but GWT is becoming very popular -Frankly other than Google’s involvement I do not see why – It seems
its first stop is Jetty server and then you have to copy the war folder to the webapps under Tomcat. What I do not understand is why Jee Eclipse works better than MyEclipse
It is just wacko – I pay money for something that should be a superset and there are no working examples of this ridiculously over complicated development environment
At the very least you need better documentation. It should be better than this.I do not expect a fullblown solution to all my problems I only need to be able to develop effectively in MyEclipse as my chosen IDE environment.
I will be buying another license if I can effectively use GWT maybe a lot more to come.
Also this GWT has been out since 2008 so how is it there are no decent Examples by Demand for it yet?
Brian FernandesModeratorrss,
While we initially explored the idea of EOD projects for the MyEclipse for Spring product, it was ultimately ruled to not be as important because generating such applications was actually much easier with ME4S itself and pretty much the purpose of the product.
I asked my support team to run through your case and something does appear to be going south *during* the scaffolding process. As a result of this the code generated is incomplete / incorrect leading to the “forever Loading” problem you mentioned earlier.
This is a case that is tested as part of the release process, so something new appears to have gone wrong with the scaffolding wizard (you should see an error in the log to this effect). My team is looking into the problem and if a workaround is available we will post it here. The idea would be to get this fixed for the 10.6 release of *ME4S* which should be in a couple of weeks from now.
I realize the issue is frustrating and appreciate your patience and support.
Rob SilverParticipantFor now I am using:
Eclipse Java EE IDE for Web Developers.Version: Indigo Service Release 2
Build id: 20120216-1857(c) Copyright Eclipse contributors and others 2005, 2012. All rights reserved.
Visit http://www.eclipse.org/webtoolsThis is just absurd because MyEclipse should handle all of this as default via the Eclipse sub component and it is akin to buying an expensive BMW and being told it can not idle in park
It was made for precision driving. I do not understand why GWT is said to be supported but clearly is not in ME4S. This is a huge problem in user trust and I am not too hot on MyEclipse because it seems this has gone on for quite some time now.
GWT has been said to be supported and clearly is not leaving huge amounts of frustration here. You owe it to your product to fix this especially given GWT’s popularity. That or update this site and give away MyEclipse to ME4S, Bling and Blue MyEclipse licensees because this is not right! While you are at it provide full documentation and warn users ahead of time
Rob SilverParticipantHas anyone addressed this in all this time?
Brian FernandesModeratorRob,
We have made a few fixes specifically in GWT scaffolding for the ME4S 10.7 release. This incorporates the workarounds required earlier among other things.
I’ll be adding a few questions here shortly ensure that our fixes do address your specific problems before we go live with it.
