I’ve been having this problem for a while but it seems to be happening more and more frequently lately to the point where performing a build works only very few times…

When performing a build of my project, I get the message:

The project was not built due to “Could not read file: C:\Users\jhobbs\Documents\Work\EclipseWorkspaces\DefaultWorkspace\CNEP2\src\main\resources\xsd\passengerlist\cs-utility.xsd.”. Fix the problem, then try refreshing this project and building it since it may be inconsistent

…The file referred to in the error message changes pretty much every time, and there never appears to be anything ‘wrong’ with the file in question. I’ve found no pattern about which file is complained about in the error, nothing like “files i’ve recently worked on” or anything like that, HOWEVER it IS always a non-java file, like a .properties, .xsd, .xml file or something like that, that’s present in my project’s java buildpath.

I saw some posts online about similar errors but they seemed to be related to ubuntu 64-bit and pulse, I’ve not found others with this same issue on windows.

Here’s my installation details, and below that, a snippet from the log related to this build error….

I don’t really know if this is a myeclipse issue or just an eclipse problem.

Things I’ve tried are rebooting / restarting the workspace, blowing away the workspace and re-creating it, reinstalling myeclipse.

I suspect it’s related to those non-java files being in the build path, but I’m not sure why that would present a problem really.

If anyone’s seen anything similar and can give me some clues it’d be greatly appreciated, or even just tell me where to look.

I’m using a dual core CPU and strangely enough (or logically enough, I guess), if I edit the ‘processor affinity’ setting in task manager to fore the myeclipse.exe process to use only a single core, the problem _seems_ to go away – not sure if it’s just because builds take longer or if it’s really a multicore issue…

<b>[EDIT] – OK having running MANY more ‘clean build’s with processor affinity set to a single core, I DO still see the error, however it’s much less frequent.</b>

    AAArrgh!

    What do you guys think?

..Oh… I’m using Vista Home Premium 64-bit, with an Intel Core2 Duo P8400 CPU, 4Gb RAM.

    jasonhobbs,
MyEclipse is not officially support on 64 bit windows and I hope this is not a platform related issue. You deployed your project using MyEclipse or ant? What this project originally a MyEclipse project?

I’ll ask the dev team to look into this issue?
