Have to get this off my chest as I have spent the last two days downloading and configuring about 2 Gigs of software.

MyEclipse 7.5 includes BIRT 2.2. I need to use 2.3 (Which has some very important bug fixes). I cant unistall “reporting” as a feature from MyEclipse and I cant override the builtin reporting with birt 2.3 as it breaks the config left right and centre.

MyEclipse reports requires you to establish a project as a reporting project. Why? When you do this it puts all the libraries it thinks you need in places it thinks they belong and cretes a directory structure it thinks you should use. Great for the novice but not so great if you need to keep your existing site lean and not install a reporting viewer.

I have now just downgraded to MyEclipse 6.6 so that I can install BIRT 2.3. Please guys……

In MyEclipse 8.0 we will be upgrading our BIRT support to the latest release (2.5.x) and with MyEclipse Lite, you should be able to simply remove that component of MyEclipse that you dont want to work with, and then install your own preferred software.

    Mark,

I’m sorry I missed this thread. Reporting in MyEclipse 7.5 is based on BIRT 2.3.1, not BIRT 2.2 (BIRT 2.2 is part of ME 6.6). Can you tell me why you think we have BIRT 2.2? Perhaps this is an installation issue that we can sort out.
Of course, if you have a problem with the directory structure, that is a different matter altogether and I understand where you are coming from.

As Nipun stated, in MyEclipse 8, you will be able to simply remove MER if you don’t want it.
