I know this is easily worked around in the “Project Templates” panel, but the choice of a space character inbetween “Web Root” and “Java Source” has had me fixing up several people’s projects when it comes time to build them on Unix, which doesn’t like spaces in directory names. What’s more icky is that changing the names is easy enough, but if the projecy has already been in CVS, UGH!!!

I believe these default folder names were chosen to reflect a similiarity with IBM’s WSAD product. So the background of the decision is marketing. We typically change these defaults internally ASAP. I have entered your feedback into our enhancement tracking system.

    Thanks for the feedback.

WSAD 5.1 uses “JavaSource” and “WebContent” by default.

Interesting. Perhaps they changed it for the same reason that Dean mentioned. Looks like something we definately need to address to reduce the internal support issues for you guys.
