It is possible with the default installation of Eclipse to remotely debug Java classes.
It would be great if a facility to remotely debug JSP was available also, to allow people who don’t have control of the application server to debug their JSPs.
    regards,
    Gerard.

I’m at a bit of a loss to understand what, specifically, is missing from 3.8.2 in this regard. I use ME+Ant to deploy from Windows to a Tomcat 5 JVM running in a VMware-based SuSE environment. This is technically remote debugging, right? As long as I start the remote JVM with the appropriate debug parameters, I can debug Java classes and JSPs without any problems.

What new luxuries can I look forward to with 3.8.3?

    Paul,
Our source locater that is used for JSP debugging wasn’t currently enabled during remote debugging sessions, so you could debug any classes but not JSPs… if you are already doing this, well then I am not sure how you are doing it, but you probably won’t notice much when 3.8.3 comes out 😉

    Riyad,

The JSP source is in my project, if that makes a difference. Will 3.8.3 allow me to debug JSPs when the source JSP is availabel only on the remote server?

The JSP source needs to be part of your Eclipse workbench so it can be looked up.
