    Hi all,
i am seeing more & more that everyone (myself included) is complaining about the increasing installation problems.
    – If you update your eclipse installation, you have problems for some reason
    – if you download the bundled version, you have the pulse destroying your liver
and in the end you finish restoring your previous eclipse backup, if you are lucky to have one.

i do not want to enter in issues related to pulse here but, in order to help your “unhappy” customers, why do not simply publish a downloadable version with a TESTED eclipse 3.4.yourchoice + myeclipse 7.1.whatever, just zipped, without any installer, without any pulse, without any update site in order to avoid destructive updates, just in order to have your customers being productive (which means working with eclipse/myeclipse instead of fighting with installation issues) ?

    thanks
    Paolo

    Paolo,
We ship the Archived Update site for folks that want to “roll their own” and in addition to that we are making every upgrade and install failure a P1 for both the MyEclipse and Pulse teams.

We *will* continue to pour sweat and blood into this to deliver the solution we promised our users but will also continue to provide alternatives for folks that don’t want to use it.

Thanks Nipun but, just to make things simpler, even the eclipse team decided to help us making the eclipse 3.4.1 classic no more available !!! 🙂

this is the result trying to download from http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/eclipse/downloads/drops/R-3.4.1-200809111700/eclipse-SDK-3.4.1-macosx-cocoa.tar.gz
    “Eclipse downloads – file unavailable
The selected file is invalid, or it is no longer available for download.”

this is really becoming a nightmare …
