I just upgraded to 9.0 and have run into a problem with being asked for the cvs password every time I restart MyEclipse and perform a cvs operation. Checking the save password box doesn’t seem to do anything. I tried setting up the secure storage login but then I get prompted for that password every time and there doesn’t seem to be an option not to create a password for it.

Is there any type of workaround for this like manually editing the security file

    vegasdotcom,

Can you please try these steps and check if the issue persists ?

    1) Go to General > Security > Secure Storage
    2) On the Content tab click Delete.
    3) Restart
    4) Save the password on the CVS repository window and follow the wizard.

Let me know it this fixes the issue.

I closed all my projects, discarded the repository, then followed your steps. I added the cvs repository through the wizard. I checked the box saying save password and clicked finish. I then immediately got another popup asking for the password again. I checked the box on that screen to save it. After restarting MyEclipse and doing a cvs op, I got asked for the password.

    vegasdotcom,

I am unable to replicate it at my end.

    1) Can you share the build id from Help > About MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench? Paste the Build Id here for me.

    2) Can please cross check the steps again for me ? Here are the steps in detail :

    a) Go to Window > Preferences > General > Security > Secure Storage > Contents tab. Click on delete Remove all projects from sharing. Click yes when it prompts to restart the application.

    b) Once the IDE starts, remove the projects from sharing and discard the existing CVS location.

    c) Create a new CVS repository, fill in the required values and check the ‘Save Password’ box.

    d) When you click on ‘Finish’ it will throw you a window for secure storage. Attached is the screenshot showing the same.

    e) When you click yes on the window, it will open up the Password Recovery Setup window. Fill in the details for the 2 questions.

    f) Once done, restart the IDE and check if the issue persists. If yes then send us the screenshot of the same.

Let me know how this works for you.

That caused it to save the cvs password but now I get prompted for the secure storage password on the first cvs op after a restart which is no better.

With your workspace in the state that it is now, can you try performing this step again?

Go to Window > Preferences > General > Security > Secure Storage > Contents tab. Click on Delete and then Yes in the dialog that pops up. If you expand the “Default Secure Storage” node in the same tab, you should now see no CVS accounts stored. In our trials we were prompted for the secure storage password on start and deleting this actually did prevent that prompt from showing up. Note that the purpose of this is to have a single password prompt, which in turn would prevent prompts for multiple repositories that you have configured, while still being somewhat secure -i.e. you are asked once.

Please note that this is not a change in MyEclipse but the base Eclipse version – a change introduced in Eclipse 3.5; MyEclipse does not modify either CVS or the Secure password functionality, so I’m afraid we cannot provide further assistance.

Here is an Eclipse related bug covering this issue, have a look at comment #2: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=328682

    Hope this helps.

Deleting the secure storage, just resulted in being prompted for the cvs password every time.

I just wanted to follow up because I haven’t heard back on this in almost a month.

    vegasdotcom,

This is not a change induced in MyEclipse but in Eclipse. So I suggest you cross post it to Eclipse forums for a timeline/workaround on this issue.

We cannot provide any further assistance in this case as it is related to Eclipse.
