    Java 5.0
    Ecplise 3.1
    MyEcplise 4.1GA

I am trying to tell the Eclipse help system where the JavaDoc for the javax set of packages is.

    – Go to the J2EE 1.4 Package Container
    – open the container
    – select the javax.servlet.jar, RMB, select Properties
    – in the Javadoc location path, select the path to the javadoc files
    – Validate – popup indicates that the location appears to be valid. Opening the browser from the popup shows the correct JavaDoc.
    – click on Apply, then on Ok.

The above should be the correct procedure, and in fact I used it to set the Javadoc location for the standard Java library (rt.jar, etc)

However when I open the javax.servlet.jar properties again, the javadoc location is empty.

P.S. I am posting this here, because the location of the javax.servlet.jar is in the MyEcplise sub-directories

This is a known (weird) problem. Sorry you ran into it, the workaround for now is creating a user library with the same info, and removing the J2EE Library Set from MyEclipse and adding your user library instead.

Yes, it’s currently targeted to be addressed in 5.5.0 GA. However, it *might* make 5.5 Milestone 2 around the end of February with any luck.
