This is a feature I have had in other text editors, and it would be very useful for all of the editors in MyEclipse. I just spent a few hours tracking down a bug in a CSS file that was due to some errant invisible ASCII characters hiding at the end of the line. If I could set a pref to display non-printable ASCII chars I would be very happy.

I searched the forums but found no reference to this topic, I hope this has not already been discussed.

Actually no you are the first person to ever request this… are more people interested in this?

Absolutely. This type of thing may not happen very often, but when it does it’s a huge time-sink unless your tools have the ability to show you *everything* in a file (including EOL/EOF chars etc.) *and* are able to identify the actual character. Ie. I don’t want to just know that there *is* and invisible character in the file, I want to know *what* character it is – this can be critical in tracking down the source of the character.
