Hi ,
We are in the strange position of trying to use MyEclipse with Tomcat 4 and Jdk1.3 . As a result hot-deployment does not work. Still I noticed that if smart-deployement is turned on , the plugin copies all the files in Tomcat41/webapps/ROOT . We can safely stop and start Tomcat after this is done. The question is why is the plugin copying all the files from the workspace and not only the modified files and also why is the plugin copying the .java source files in the ROOT folder ?
Is there something we can do to speed up this process ?

Thanks !

Catalin,
As you are correctly implying it shouldn’t be doing this, can you please post all the information we request in the Posting Guidelines thread at the top of this forum? That will give us some context so that we can determine if this is an installation issue, a configuration problem, or a bug. Thanks.

Also please provide an outline of your proejct’s structure along with which folder is your WebRoot folder.

I am having the same problem. I have my corporate site in (My)Eclipse. When I deploy (as an exploded project to Tomcat 5), it updates _every_ file, including year-old, large PDFs and images. It takes a long time, longer and longer as I get more and more of the site imported.

I have Eclipse 3.0.1 on a Windows XP machine with MyEclipse 3.8.4+QF2. I read the documentation and didn’t see the question answered. (Did I miss anything?)

Thanks,

Dennis

Ignore my last post. The deployment is easier than I’d realized, I was going through an extra step. D’oh!
