My guess is the Spring IDE plugin is causing a conflict here.
Can you switch to a new workspace, create a new project, add spring capabilities to it and try opening this project. Do you still get the error ?
If you do get the error, I would suggest you reinstall MyEclipse to a brand new location with out the Spring IDE plugin and then try the above mentioned steps again.
