Our enterprise security firewall block all our developer’s connection to MyEclipse/Pulse download and update sites (for couple months already). The only way we can access to your products is if you provide SSL connections. We had same issue to Google’s products and once we use the SSL connections the problem was solved.

    Example:
    http://downloads.myeclipseide.com/downloads/products/eworkbench/helios/me4s-eclipse

    Need:
    https://downloads.myeclipseide.com/downloads/products/eworkbench/helios/me4s-eclipse

Without giving developers the chance to evaluate your products, I can not persuade the management team to buy the license of your products and subsequently I can not request enterprise security firewall rule changes. It’s chicken and egg thing.

    Thanks

By the way, we don’t want to use all-in-one installer. We are very interested in Pulse management and MyEclipse for Spring STS plugin edition. We want to use pulse to manage the profile so it can be shared between all developers.

    Thanks

    cherngje,

If you are behind a firewall / proxy and would like to use pulse to manage your MyEclipse profiles, I suggest you do the following. Turn the caps lock on and open pulse . This will prompt you – “Would you like to setup network proxies before continuing?”. Click on Yes, This will open pulse communication wizard where you can choose your current network settings. If you select manual configuration, you can setup proxy entries or rules for proxy bypass. Please see attached screenshots.

The solution that you provided has been well documented, as matter in fact, that has been official response from you guys regarding with firewall and pulse. However, proxy won’t work in our environment as our environment block proxy servers as well. Unless you can provide proxy connection that we can use which does not get blocked by Websense. That been said, why you can not provide https connection to your download and update site? Too expensive? Or because of performance?
