Struts 2 is not supported by MyEclipse eclipse at the moment but we already have a feature request thread running for Struts 2 where you can add you vote in favor of this feature.

Don’t bother going to that thread – people been asking for Struts 2 support for over 2 years – looks like they don’t care. Just try this plugin it works just fine –> http://mvcwebproject.sourceforge.net/

    Pete,
Our entire company is structured around servicing the needs of our users and we realize that it can get frustrating being on the outside, looking in, when you are waiting for support for XYZ-technology to get added.

At any given time there are demands that we support atleast 10 frameworks and 10 new massive features, that’s expensive… really really expensive. We have to do prioritization and planning around these demands, make sure we optimize our path through this forest to make sure we support all the right technologies at the right times to make the most users happy.

As you all know frameworks are many factors more complex now than they were back in the Struts 1.x days… so the “Support XYZ framework” requests have a lot more implied work, support, enhancements, growth associated with them than they used to.

If it helps to know, Struts 2 is on a short list of R&D items that we are aware demand is growing for and want to meet that need; but not in an uneducated/rushing way. We need to know exactly where we are going forward with that tooling, who it’s benefiting and make sure we are addressing the right issues.

The whole cross-integration aspects of all these frameworks now introduce an almost entire level more to each request too just to give an idea of why this stuff sometimes takes a long time to get in.

Have faith, we work for your business; we always have and we won’t stop.

To have a faith? Trust me I have a plenty of it — how else to survive in this business for 10+ year :-).
But I must say I am surprised it’s been taking that long. But having said that I do not even care much or eagerly expecting support for S2 would arrive one day. I am finishing my second S2 project in last 15months and can do just fine without any fancy wizards – at least I can get the whole framework “inside my head” and once you eventually deliver some one click support I will gladly use it – but nothing is restricting me to use this tool right now to deliver S2,Extjs and load of other stuff MyEclipse it not supporting right now.
    BUT,
management thinks otherwise – they were given beta preview of IntelliJ 8 – with some jaw dropping S2 support and I think it was already decided starting Sep they buy their licenses – not big deal for you though – only 18 licenses – just a drop in sea amongst your licensees.

But I have no hard feelings really – I might even review my personal license by the end of the year 🙂

Now when 7.0M1 is out — and no Struts 2 anywhere … I just feel must re-iterate I DO HAVE A FAITH…say what — it’s coming in 7.5?….man it must come in 8.0 then right?! ….amen…………

Intellij will soon support Struts 2. Since MyEclipse has no plans of supporting it, I see no reason to continue to use MyEclipse. Your Spring tools come from the Spring IDE. Your Hibernate tools come from the Hibernate team. Maven support is built in for free to Ganymede and you require us to buy the professional version to get support for Maven? What exactly do we get with our subscription?

My company has 50 licenses. We use Struts 2.
