I’ve been asked to create a commercial plugin for Eclipse which is paid for by subscription – just like MyEclipse is – so I thought I’d pick your brains. So, if any of the MyEclipse team can answer this – have you rolled your own subscription management in the Eclipse plugin, or is there a built in facility in Eclipse which will save me some time?

There is no built in facility in the platform to manage subscriptions but there are 3rd party vendors out there that sell this technology. I cannot share what we have done though.
