    Hi there,

Is there support for the JBoss Rules Plugin planned for a future release of MyEclipse?

    Ralf,
Not at the moment (first I’ve heard of it). But we do integrate work from the JBossIDE plugin, so it’s possible down the road to pull in complimentary portions of that plugin if our users demanded it (NOTE: We very rarely every just add a plugin, it’s always integrated in some manner, like we did with the Hibernate/Spring work. So it’s not usually as simple as just ‘dropping’ something in, but it certainly makes it more viable).

    Thanks for responding so fast.

JBoss Rules has been known as the Open Source project Drools before JBoss took over hosting of the project. It is a pretty “famous” open source rules engine. Are there any other MyEclipse users who have been working with Drools or would like to see it supported?

I would like to see this supported.

So It seems there is no way I can load this plugin? Has anyone else been able to get around this?

I’d like to see this supported as well. We’re just getting into the Drools work so I’ve been trying to get their Eclipse plug-in setup. I got past the first hurdle by getting the 5.1 GA (was at M-1) and now get a message that it requires org.eclipse.pde.ui… I’ll post more as I try. Probably tomorrow… BCS game tonight.

So in case anyone cares, here’s what success I’ve had so far…

I removed everything eclipse from my machine, installed the latest 3.2.1 from eclipse.org, installed the MyEclipse plug-ins (instead of the stack), and when I looked at Help/About…/Plugins – viola! The gef was 3.2.1xxxx and so was pde.ui. Since all the pre-reqs were there the update went smoothly. I did a File/New/Other and JBoss Rules was there!

Now I just need to figure out where to go from there…

    🙂
