arjan.tijmsMemberHi,
I’m trying to use the Jprofiler Eclipse plug-in to profile a MyEclipse launch. This does not seem to be supported. If I choose Run -> Run… from the Eclipse menu I can run a MyEclipse configuration (the ones under the “MyEclipse Server” node). These same configurations also turn up in Run -> Debug…
However they are notably absent in the Run -> Profile… dialog.
I also tried launching a MyEclipse configuration first, stopping it, and then choosing Run -> Profile last launched, but this also does not work (it starts profiling the last Java configuration I launched instead).
Is there any known workaround for this? I can of course always launch my AS (tomcat in my case) directly from JProfiler or do some remote attachment, but I’d prefer using the more integrated method.
Riyad KallaMemberArjan,
Unfortunately I have no experience with JProfile or why it isn’t seeing the launch configuration. I checked with the dev that worked on the launch configs, and everything is pretty run of the mill… it’s possible that JProfile is coded to understand a very *specific* type of run config (e.g. “Java application”) so when it sees ours which I believe is an extension of Java app, it says “Sorry, not the same thing” and doesn’t give the option to run it.Please note that is a completely uneducated shot in the dark. I don’t know why it’s not popping up.
arjan.tijmsMemberI asked this question also to ej-technologies (the company behind JProfiler) and they replied that JProfiler 5.0 (which is scheduled for next month) will have support for among others the WTP launch configuration.
Of course, I’m not sure how much the MyEclipse launch configuration has in common with the WTP one. I know you guys build on WTP, but isn’t the launch config MyEclipse specific?
Riyad KallaMemberThe launch config is MyEclipse specific at the moment. We adopt WTP technologies as they mature and reach parity with our functionality or surpass it. The connectors and launch configurations we are hoping are mostly complete by WTP 2.0 and I believe we will re-address moving over then.
