I don’t know why I am getting the error “target runtime com.genuitec.runtime.generic.java is not defined”.

I think it is affecting the execution of the application.

The issue is not clear to us.

Can you please give us some more information to help investigate further?

1. Is the project created in MyEclipse or is it a WTP enabled project ?

2. Are you seeing this error when trying to deploy a project to a server ? Please list the exact steps you are following along with the server details.

3. Is the issue only with this particular project ? Share details about the project.

4. Can you make sure you have configured the JRE under Window > Preferences > Installed JREs?

5. Clear the contents of the .log which is located at <workspace dir>/.metadata/.log. Replicate the issue and copy paste the contents of the .log file here for us to take a look.

6. Also share the MyEclipse Build ID from Help > About.

Hello,

I had the same problem after switching from MyEclipse 2013 to Eclipse Kepler.

The following did it for me:
1.) In a file explorer (could not find an eclipse view to show the file system) navigate to [workspace] >> [project] >> .settings
2.) Open the file org.eclipse.wst.common.project.facet.core.xml in an editor
3.) Remove line <runtime name=”com.genuitec.runtime.generic.java”/>

Thank you for posting this workaround. MyEclipse defines target runtime com.genuitec.runtime.generic.java, so in Eclipse you will see the error. The best way to resolve the issue is : Go to the project Properties page > MyEclipse > Targeted Runtime and select a different runtime than the MyEclipse Generic Runtime.
