Chris ChierchioParticipantI am using the DEVELOPER PREVIEW VERSION: 2.5 – MILESTONE 1.
Everything worked fine yesterday, but today when a try to edit text in any of the design center features, the text is all garbled.
Uninstalled and reinstalled with the same results.
Ideas?Maybe because I have not purchased MobiOne yet and am on a trial version?
support-octavioMemberHi chierchio,
Do you have this issue with all design files (.mobi)? If you create a new design is the text goofed up on it?
Can you post a screenshot to give us an idea of what might be goofed up?
Chris ChierchioParticipantIt happens with new mobi files as well.
I have attached some screen shots as requested.Chris
Chris ChierchioParticipantHaven’t heard anything back – so I uninstalled the Developer Preview and installed the latest download – Version 2.3.2 (hot-fix 1)
Same thing. When I try to edit any text items on buttons or text boxes, etc, the text is garbled.
I have attached a couple of files for testing – maybe there is something in the files that can shed some light on the garbled text problem.
Thanks

support-octavioMemberHi chierchio,
The problem appears to be system related. Did you make any recent updates or install new software or fonts? Your .mobi files look OK for us. Can you share your language/locale settings?
Chris ChierchioParticipantHmmm – I’ll have to look at the registry – maybe something went wonky…
Language settings are English – US
Thanks
Chris ChierchioParticipantCleaned the registry – reinstalled – updated – same problem.
Turns out the internal Helvetica Font in Mobione became corrupted. Change to a different font – no problems.
From what I have read, Helvetica is not a windows font – but is referenced in CSS. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/879769/is-helvetica-a-browser-base-font
Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks for sharing this info. The dev team is investigating with this additional info. Traditionally on Windows the arial font is substituted for helvetica, a non-windows font. First thought is a different font substitution is in place and conflicting with mobione in some odd way. Not really sure just yet. Hopefully will have more info by tomorrow (can’t promise yet but will follow up as soon as I know more). -
