Considering that tomcat can restart individual web contexts without restarting the container, perhaps an extension similar to http://tmplugin.sourceforge.net/ could be added as well. (Currently I use tmplugin alongside ME but would integrate better if it were builtin to the deployment system).

Our focus right now is on broader improvements to app server support and deployment, for app server specific behavior you might be best servered (right now) by using a specific plugin for that, like you are. that does not mean we won’t address this in the future though.
